Our Commitment to Child Safety
At Smart Little Kids Early Learning Centre, the safety, wellbeing and protection of every child is fundamental to who we are and how we operate.
We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, inclusive and respectful environment where every child is valued, listened to and supported to learn, develop and thrive. We believe every child has the right to feel safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to have their voice heard.
Child safety is embedded throughout our organisation. It informs our leadership and governance, recruitment and induction processes, policies and procedures, educational programs, risk management practices, physical and online environments, and the everyday interactions between educators and children.
All educators, employees, students, volunteers and relevant contractors are expected to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, maintain appropriate boundaries and understand their responsibilities in identifying, responding to and reporting child safety concerns.
Children’s Voices Matter
We recognise children as active participants in their own safety and wellbeing. Our educators build trusting and respectful relationships that encourage children to express their thoughts, feelings, ideas and concerns with confidence.
We listen carefully to children and ensure their perspectives are valued in decisions that affect their experiences within our service. We support children to understand their rights, recognise when something does not feel right and know that they can speak with a trusted adult at any time.
Safe, Inclusive and Respectful Environments
Every child deserves to experience a genuine sense of belonging.
We are committed to creating environments that respect and celebrate the individual identity, culture, background, abilities and circumstances of every child and family. We recognise the importance of cultural safety and inclusion and are committed to ensuring all children have equitable opportunities to participate, contribute and feel respected within our community.
Our environments and practices are regularly reviewed to identify and manage risks, strengthen safeguards and ensure children’s safety remains at the forefront of our decision-making.
Our Responsibility
Protecting children is a shared responsibility across our entire organisation. We carefully select, screen, induct, supervise and support the people who work and engage with children at Smart Little Kids, and we provide ongoing education and professional development to strengthen child-safe knowledge and practice.
Any concern, disclosure, allegation or suspicion relating to the safety or wellbeing of a child is taken seriously and responded to promptly and appropriately. We are committed to meeting our legal and regulatory responsibilities and maintaining clear processes for reporting, documentation, escalation and continuous improvement.
We also recognise the essential role of families and value open, respectful and transparent partnerships. Families are encouraged to communicate with us, provide feedback and raise concerns at any time.
An Ongoing Commitment
Being a child-safe organisation requires continuous reflection, accountability and improvement. We regularly review our policies, practices, environments and systems to ensure they continue to support the highest standards of child safety and wellbeing.
At Smart Little Kids Early Learning Centre, child safety is more than a responsibility — it is a commitment reflected in every decision we make, every environment we create and every interaction we have with the children entrusted to our care
